Be mindful of the stories you tell yourself when you are lonely and sad, that you accept as the truth. Just because you have a thought or a belief, it doesn’t necessarily make it true.
Sometimes our fears, our victim mentality, protective mechanisms and insecurities are excellent narrators of stories we accept as true at the times when we aren’t utilizing 100 percent of our rational mind. These can lead us to make rush unfounded decisions that have lasting and often fatal consequences based on a false reality.
Loneliness and grief are terrible advisors. The next time you find yourself in such a situation, wait. Breathe. Sleep on it. Time has a wonderful way of clearing the fog.
